Our digital identity is engraved for life on the internet. It is created by us and can depend on one network to another, as we wish.
Nowadays, social media allows each of us to share our lives and create a character. This personality will be loved or hated. The goal is to show the best of us, or to invent a someone new.
It’s a way of being who you want. We associate a type of person with their publications on social networks: photos in wonderful places, pictures of our clothing style, music videos, humorous videos, everything is put into play for the person we want to show. We spend an enormous amount of time creating and modifying this digital identity. There is no limit to our imagination.
However, social media is like sharks. People scoff or worship. Depending on our publications, how we answer to people, or how long we spend on networks, people will decide what image you get.
You have the beginning of your character in hand until your identity is distorted by your community. Millions of subscribers of Instagram, Snapchat, and many others are taking control of your image over time.
Take the example of reality TV stars: they create a character for themselves, until the internet turns it in their favor or not.
Digital identity is certainly a way of being who you want, but it is also a trap.
